Sri Lanka’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is estimated to have contracted 11.5 percent in the first quarter of 2023 from a year ago, the Department of Census and Statistics said, today.
MP Lakshman Kiriella said the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has informed the Nilames and organizers of the Kandy Esala Perahera to deposit a sum of Rs. 13 million in order to supply an uninterrupted power supply for the festival.
