New fraud hits Sri Lankans by storm, over 8,000 people lose billions
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched an investigation into a new financial fraud which so far has involved Rs.14 billion with 8,000 people being victims in a fake crypto currency scheme.
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), which staged a protest against the recent remark made by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on its Leader Sajith Premadasa and his wife not bearing children, said today this was an insult to all couples unable to bear children.
A social media influencer has promised to return large sums of donations secured to assist families affected by the Easter Sunday attacks after she was accused on social media of fraud, in an incident now tagged as #IshiniGate.
