In response to concerns raised by India about a Chinese company involved in some power projects in the North , the Chinese embassy said today (15) it was purely a commercial activity undertaken through an open international bidding process.
MP Lakshman Kiriella said the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has informed the Nilames and organizers of the Kandy Esala Perahera to deposit a sum of Rs. 13 million in order to supply an uninterrupted power supply for the festival.
