Wild elephant dies of gunshot wounds

A female elephant with gunshot wounds succumbed to its injuries while being treated by the Wildlife Department’s Veterinary officers in Devagiripura, Nikaweratiya on Thursday. The elephant’s calf was also by its side when rescue efforts were underway.
